About Bill Perry; The Producer:
Bill Perry is a two-time Emmy winning producer who is currently a manager at OETA, overseeing various television programs including all locally produced documentaries. One of his favorite recent productions was a documentary that tracked the formation and development of the Oklahoma Centennial All-Star Band, featuring students from high school bands from across the state. He and his crew were there as the band performed for opening ceremonies and then led the 2007 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. Bill has worked in television for over thirty years, and is one of only a few Oklahomans who has been included in the "Silver Circle", a special honor given by an Emmy committee to those who have been nominated as having made major contributions to the television industry for more than 25 years. His favorite hobby does not stray far from his vocation; as a freelance video photographer and editor, Bill has produced dozens of videos that continue to prompt repeat business from happy customers. He is particularly excited to be documenting the activities of the Deer Creek Band because he has been a "music parent" for nearly twenty years. He watched his own two children have a positive educational experience by studying music, beginning in grade school. Bill documented most of their music performances, competitions, and concerts. His daughter Jenny still plays violin as a hobby, and his son Brian (a double bass player) ultimately chose music as a career. He has studied with the Boston Symphony and plays professionally with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (Brian's wife also plays in the orchestra). Bill's wife Sue assists him on location during all the video shoots, working with sound recording and sometimes operating a second camera as needed.
